Amelia Sandgren
Hi Everyone! My name is Amelia Sandgren (She/Her/Hers) and I am a junior double-majoring in art history and English. I'm intended pre-law and a part of Kappa Alpha Pi, a pre-law fraternity on campus. I've done URAP research across four different departments while at Cal (art history, history, archeology, and Haas - business). I've joined a variety of different clubs, gone through different recruitment experiences, and received a lot of pre-professional help that I would love to share with you all. If you have any questions about double-majoring, navigating courses and professors in the art history department, joining and balancing clubs on campus, finding social organizations (I'm also in a sorority - Sigma Kappa), what research could be right for you, study abroad (I'm going to London in the Spring), or need a resume review or mock interviews, I would be happy to help!
I also love trying new food places around Berkeley, coffee, hiking, volleyball/basketball, pickleball (!), and reading (Sally Rooney has a new book ahh). Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, I'm excited to give any advice/resources I've learned about while here! xx
Hannia Jauregui
Hello, my name is Hannia Jauregui and I’m a third year, officially declared as an art history major. I am hoping to focus on either Italian Baroque or French Impressionism. I love going to art museums, taking photos with my digital camera, traveling, and exploring new coffee shops.
Mars Banham
Hello. My name is Mars! I am a third year student in the History of Art department, specifically inclined toward Soviet art and art of the Eastern Bloc. I love my dilute calico (Marmalade), jumping spiders (I worked in the Elias Lab) for a semester, syncopating on the piano, and collecting vintage militaria, Soviet and Boy Scouts memorabilia, and Commedia dell’Arte masks. Right now I am listening to Sweet Trip, Air, Portishead, and Moondog. My favorite painting is Europa by Valentin Serov.
I am versed in the intricacies of the department and can offer insight into professors’ teaching styles and how those might phase in the schema of your scheduling and planning. Please feel free to bring to me any departmental questions, solicit advice (URAP experience), express frustrations or anxieties, or anything else you may have been wanting to talk about amidst a deficit of suitable outlets. I’m always around if you’d like to talk about an impenetrable reading you may have had—happy to be your second pair of eyes. The same goes for structuring, editing, and proofreading essays or research papers. Reach me at miasusina@berkeley.edu
